John Paul Dalsimer/ Community Accountants Records

 

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
 

John Paul Dalsimer is a Philadelphia area accountant who of was active in the Committee on Community Involvement of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The Committee was involved in providing free accounting assistance to disadvantaged organizations and businesses who could not afford to hire such services beginning in 1967.

In 1974 Mr. Dalsimer and other concerned individuals organized and incorporated Community Accountants, a Philadelphia based nonprofit public interest accounting organization. The goals of the organization were similar to those of the Committee on Community Involvement but with a small paid staff to more effectively undertake the provision of services.

ORGANIZATION AND ARRANGEMENT

Since the collection deals almost entirely with Mr. Dalsimer's interest and activities in the Community Accountants organization, the materials have been arranged in the same manner as organizational records. There are four series:
