HISTORICAL NOTE
The Yorktown Community Organization was established in 1962 to serve a small section within North Philadelphia adjacent to the Temple University Campus. The community is bounded by Girard Avenue, Broad Street, Columbia Avenue and Eleventh Street. The Yorktown area represents one of the successful, privately developed urban renewal communities in Philadelphia.
