How to Use NetLibrary

NetLibrary is an online library with over 16,000 eBooks, eJournals, and eAudiobooks. Like any library, there is a wide variety of research and reading materials to choose from. You can use NetLibrary anywhere you have an internet connection. Netlibrary materials can be browsed or checked out, just like at a regular library. The difference? All of your materials are stored in your computer and there are no overdue fees. When your check-out period is over, the the Net Library system automatically checks the book back in for you.

If you want to check out NetLibrary material, you will be asked to create an account with a username and password. You can use your TU access name and password for your NetLIbrary account or, if you like, create an username and password unique to NetLibrary.Your NetLibrary account also enables to make notes in the NetLibrary materials that you check out, create lists of favorite items, and more!

Finding materials in NetLibrary

NetLibrary can be searched like any library catalog. NetLibrary's basic search box appears on the home page on the right side of every other page. The pulldown menu of the Basic Search box offers the following choices:

Search by Title: The fastest way to search if you already know the title of the material you need.

Search by Author: The fastest way to search if you already know the who wrote the material you need.

Search by Keyword: A keyword search is a way to search for titles, authors, subject headings, publishers, and ISBN numbers with a single seach. Keywords can be searched using singular terms (example: computer) or multiple terms (example: philadelphia history franklin).

Search by Full Text: A full text search searches words in titles, authors, subject headings, publishers, and in the entire text of all NetLibrary eMaterials. Use specific search terms (example: "Tet offensive" instead of Vietnam War). Use quotation marks to perform exact phrase searches. Use quotations marks when searching for a phrase (example: "War of the Roses")

NetLibrary has many other useful functions and features. If you still are not certain about how to use NetLibrary, consult with a Temple Librarian or try NetLibrary's help site .
