How to export lists from Diamond

On June 29, 2017, the Libraries will launch the Library Search to replace Summon and the library catalog (known as Diamond). Please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions for more information and check the library website over the summer for further updates.

As part of this launch, saved lists, preferred searches, and reading histories in Diamond will go away on June 29th. If you use these opt-in features, export now! Below are instructions for exporting these lists from Diamond. 

Saved lists

  1. Log in to My Library Account: https://diamond.temple.edu/patroninfo
  2. Once logged in, select "My Lists" in the right center section of the account homepage 
  3. In "My Lists," click on the list name that you would like to export.

  4. Then select "Export list."

  5. Select "Format of List" and "Send List To" options:

    • Recommended format: "Full Display" (full record information)
    • For email export, enter your email address.
    • Note: Items can also be directly exported to Refworks. To do so, click on the "Export to RefWorks" button under "Send List to." For general information about Refworks, please see Refworks at Temple.
  6. Click on the "Submit" button.
  7. Once you have received your export, select "Empty All from Export List" at the top of the screen.
  8. Repeat process for each list.

Preferred searches

Note: The preferred searches themselves cannot be exported, but lists of items within searches can be saved.

If you would like to save a list of items within a preferred search:

  1. Log in to My Library Account: https://diamond.temple.edu/patroninfo
  2. Once logged in, select "Preferred Searches" in the right center section of the account homepage.
  3. Click on "Search" link to execute an individual preferred search.

  4. In search results, mark checkboxes of individual items that you would like to save. 
  5. Select "Email/Export" at top of search results to add marked items to export list.

  6. Select "View Export List" at top of the page.

  7. Select "Format of List" and "Send List To" options:

    • For email export, enter your email address.
    • Note: Items can also be directly exported to Refworks. To do so, click on the "Export to RefWorks" button under "Send List to." For general information about Refworks, please see Refworks at Temple.
  8. Click on the "Submit" button.
  9. Once you have received your export, select "Empty All from Export List" at the top of the screen.

If you would like to save the search parameters themselves, you must manually copy and save that information.

Reading History

Note: This only applies to those who have opted in to view their reading history via their library account.

  1. Log in to My Library Account:https://diamond.temple.edu/patroninfo
  2. Once logged in, select "Reading History" in the right center section of the account homepage.
  3. In "Reading History," select "Export My Reading List."

  4. Select "Format of List" and "Send List To" options:

    • Recommended format: "Full Display" (full record information)
    • For email export, enter your email address.
    • Note: Currently, reading histories cannot be directly exported to Refworks. To transfer your reading history to Refworks, set the format to "End-Note/Refworks" and send the list to "Local Disk"; after exporting, import the downloaded file into Refworks. When importing the file, specify the data source as "Temple University" and the database as "Diamond - EndNote/RefWorks format." For general information about Refworks, please see Refworks at Temple.
  5. Click on the "Submit" button.
  6. Once you have received your export, select "Empty All from Export List" at the top of the screen.
