Rev. ed. of: Encyclopedia of Latin American literature. 1997.
Bibliography:
Includes bibliographical references (page xix-xxi) and indexes.
Summary:
In response to many requests from librarians at smaller public libraries and high school libraries, Fitzroy Dearborn plans to issue a series of abridged versions of its most notable encyclopedias: these concise encyclopedias will include much of the material in the larger encyclopedias at what we hope will be a very affordable price. The first in the series, the Concise Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature, will be published in June.
The Concise includes: all entries on topics and countries -- those cited by many reviewers as being among the best entries in the book; entries on the 50 leading writers in Latin America from colonial times to the present; and detailed articles on some 50 important works in this literature -- those most read and studied in the English-speaking world.
