What is Information Literacy?
Information--text, data, images or sound--is abundantly available in various types of sources.   It is published in physical media such as the printed page, photographs, microfilm or microfiche, audio or video cassettes, compact disk or DVD. Much is also published in remotely accessible digital files and databases on the World Wide Web.

To be information literate you need to know how to identify, find, evaluate and use information sources appropriate to your research to answer questions, solve problems or support arguments. Don't expect to become information literate overnight. Just as with speaking and writing skills, your abilities will improve over time as you gain expertise in your chosen fields of study and experience in planning research strategy, searching, retrieving, evaluating, selecting and using information sources
