Electronic Reserves: Information for Faculty
Temple University Libraries e-reserve service can provide electronic access to reserve documents (journal articles, sample exams, class notes, etc.) through Diamond, the Libraries' catalog. Documents are generally formatted as PDF files.Documents are available to students on-campus and off-campus through the University's proxy server. See the Libraries' Connecting to Databases and Restricted Resources page for instructions on configuring your browser.
Submitting Requests for Electronic Reserve
Fill out the standard reserve request forms (book chapters or journal articles); choose the e-reserve option. (Note: If you also want the material on standard reserve, choose the appropriate loan period.) We accept already photocopied articles, book chapters, etc.; in this instance we prefer high quality copies since we can do minimal cleanup due to the volume of requests we handle. Originals should be complete and in good condition. Materials that are in poor condition, are missing pages, or are illegible cannot be made available through the e-reserve service.Other options include your submitting original material (up to 8-1/2 by 14 inches) for scanning or submitting a disk (floppy, zip, or CD) with already digitized materials if you have them. PDF format is preferred. It is also possible to link to documents on web pages; simply provide the URL along with the citation.
Like traditional reserves, e-reserve requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you submit PDF files rather than original materials, processing time is reduced. It may take up to two weeks to process any reserve request.
