Apply for faculty and course instructor awards ranging from $500 to $1,500 for adopting or creating free alternatives to commercial educational resources.

One survey found that as many as 64% of students do not buy course textbooks due to their prohibitive and burdensome cost. Another 42% of students said the cost of textbooks affected their decisions about course selection.

You can help!

Join over 75 of your teaching colleagues who have helped save students money and advance open education by participating in Temple University Libraries’ Textbook Affordability Project.

Replace costly educational resources by:

  • adopting an open textbook
  • curating alternative materials with resources available through Temple Libraries and Special Collections
  • reating open educational resources (OER)* such as learning objects or open assignments

Applications open on April 15, 2019 and will be accepted for all semesters in the 2019-2020 academic year. Applications will be accepted until May 3, 2019. Applicants will be notified of results by May 31, 2019
