Research Data Management 101

Tue, Jul 17, 2018 | 12:00 pm

This session will discuss requirements and current initiatives around data management, sharing and reproducibility coming from the NSF, NIH, publishers, and the broader scientific community. We will provide an introductory nuts and bolts approach to data management, including the following topic areas:

  • Concrete steps you can take to better manage your data

  • Documenting your research to comply with current and upcoming data management and sharing requirements

  • Tools that can be used to better organize and document your data throughout the research process

  • Platforms for sharing your research data

We will also discuss the NSF funded Virtual Data Collaboratory (VDC) project. The VDC aims to build regional science research data infrastructure to store, make accessible and promote the reuse of research data in order to enable science and engineering innovation. We will solicit your input on how to make the VDC useful for data users like you.

Lunch will be provided. Please register in advance at https://paleystudy.temple.edu/event/4296794.

This workshop is sponsored in part by the NSF funded Virtual Data Collaboratory project. One goal of the project is to develop educational modules to help researchers solve their data issues and increase the impact of their research. Insights and feedback resulting from the discussion will be incorporated into the educational modules.
