Film Screening and Q&A: Quest by Jonathan Olshefski

Mon, Mar 26, 2018 | 5:00 pm

Join us at The Reel for a screening of Quest, a documentary filmed over a ten year period by Temple alumnus Jonathan Olshefski. The film portrays Christopher “Quest” Rainey and his wife Christine’a “Ma Quest” as they raise a family in North Philadelphia while nurturing a community of hip hop artists in their home music studio.

Quest premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. A New York Times Critic’s Pick, the film has been hailed as “an intimate and patient portrait of a North Philadelphia family [...] I’ve rarely seen a movie about citizenship as quietly eloquent as Quest.” LA Times calls the film a “radiant filmmaking debut [...] the director discovers an everyday American story of extraordinary strength.” And POV Magazine writes that “Quest may be one of the most important films about the American experience ever filmed.”

Stick around after the screening for a Q&A with the director Jonathan Olshefski and members of the Rainey family.
