Urban Archives 50th Anniversary Celebration
Fri, Oct 20, 2017 | 11:00 am
In 1967, Temple University’s Department of History established the Urban Archives Center to document the social, economic, and physical development of the Philadelphia metropolitan area from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. Fifty years later, as a part of the Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center, the archives continues to focus on preserving the records of organizations and related materials and serves as a research center for students, scholars, the media, and the general public—from the region, the country, and the world.
Join us to celebrate the incredible history and future of the Urban Archives. Panelists—a founder, head, students and researchers, donors--will talk about how they’ve worked with the Urban Archives and its collections, the influences that the Archives has had on their work, and speculate about what the Urban Archives of the future should be.
Symposium 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Reception 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
