Fundamentals of Graphic Medicine

Wed, Jul 24, 2019 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

"Graphic medicine is the use of comics to tell personal stories of illness or health" (National Library of Medicine). These stories can be used in patient care, to educate medical students, or as an exercise for care providers to learn empathy and compassion. Participants will review the uses of comic book art as a method of graphic medicine, as well as fundamentals of art techniques, such as lines, curves, strokes, shading, and inking. Participants will also analyze proportional relationships in drawing basic human anatomy. There will be hands-on activities for the beginner artist. Please contact the workshop organizer if you wish to register a group of 15 or more.

Workshop is open to: undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and Temple Hospital staff.
