Biographical Note

It appears from materials in the collection that Mrs. V. S. Shyrock was the widow of William Knight Shryock, a lawyer with offices at 21 North Seventh Street, Philadelphia, who died in approximately 1907. Mrs. Shryock died in approximately 1920 and her estate was overseen by a son, William A. Shryock, who maintained offices at 225 South Sixth Street.

Description of Collection

The four volumes in this collection are a record of income and expenditures for the estate of Mrs. V. S. Shyrock from 1924 through July 1957. The estate held a variety of stocks and mortgages and owned an extensive list of rental properties in the city of Philadelphia.  Of particular interest is the payment of commissions by the estate to the Octavia Hill Association during the 1930s.
