Detailed Collection Information

Description of Collection

Collection was originally received as a separately filed group of photographs along with the subject and biographical files donated by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The subjects are unclothed or partially clothed individuals, generally female, and were mostly produced in Europe, particularly Paris. Photographers include Globe Photo, Photo Veree, Studio Reiss, Photo Piaz/Studio Piaz/Teddy Piaz, and Phot Willinger. Includes the “Hills of Hollywood” series, nude models in art classes, views in a nudist camp, the Globe series “Shall Prostitution Be Abolished or Restricted” with Marie Dolores, “How to Take a Bath” with Ginger Alton, and various clothed and unclothed photographs of Sally Rand.
