Historical Note
The Weccacoe Development Association (WDA) was founded in 1985. The purpose of the non-profit community development corporation is to provide housing for low and moderate-income residents, help to eliminate housing blight through the purchase of existing vacant properties and/or lots, develope rehab housing or new housing units, and develop other programs and services.
Description of Collection
This collection contains administrative records, correspondence, financial records, minutes, publications, and clippings by and related to the Weccacoe Development Association.

The collection is arranged into 9 series as follows:

Series 1: Administration, 1981-1997. Materials include agendas for board meetings along with activities of the Weccacoe Development Association combined member experience.
Series 2: Financial, 1985-1997. This series include audits, budget and fiscal year plans along with canceled checks and bank statements.
Series 3: Correspondence, 1977-1999. This series includes letters of recommendations and correspondence requesting information regarding vacant properties from individuals, other organizations and banks.
Series 4: Publications, 1975-1997. This series contain pamphlets and publications for developing or managing real estate property, as well as information generated by WDA about the construction of homes and other community organizations that support the purpose of WDA.
Series 5: Projects, 1981-1997. This series contain WDA’s plans and progress in specific community ventures.
Series 6: Other Organizations, 1985-1997. This series include documents stating WDA’s involvement in working with other neighborhood improvement programs.
Series 7: Scrapbook, 1990-1997. This series include news clippings regarding of WDA and its effect and other community development corporations on the community.
Series 8: Legal Information, 1985, Undated. This series contains WDA’s by-laws and legal information that organize WDA as a non-profit organization.
