Historical Note

The Philadelphia Citizens Budget Committee was created on December 10, 1951 as a non-political and non-profit organization to engage in a continuous study of Philadelphia's governmental operations and its fiscal, budgetary and revenue problems, for the purpose of promoting "efficient and economical government for the City of Philadelphia on a comprehensive, objective and continuing basis."

Description of Collection

The records of the Citizens Budget Committee consists of two linear feet of material. The bulk of the material covers the years 1952 to 1959 with the minutes of the Committee's meetings continuing to November of 1965.
