Alumni Library Services

Library services for alumni will be suspended from 5/9/19 until the Charles Library opens in August 2019.

To fully take advantage of all the benefits that are offered to Alumni, we encourage you to register with the Office of Alumni Relations.

Access

Alumni may access any Temple library facility during any open hours of operation. Please have either an Alumni Borrowers Card (discontinued effective 12/18) or Alumni Card (obtain at Office of Alumni Relations in 100 Sullivan Hall) to show to the door guard.

Borrowing Books and DVDs

The Alumni Card doubles as your library card and enables you to borrow ten books/dvds for a four-week period (DVDs circulate for one week). To obtain an Alumni Card, please visit the Office of Alumni Relations.  Once your account is created with Alumni Affairs, you will be entered into the Temple administrative system and a library account will automatically be created.  For additional information call Paley Circulation at: 215-204-0744.

Library Resources

Owing to license restrictions, alumni may only use the Temple University Library databases (e.g., EBSCO, Historical New York Times, Project JStor, etc.) on campus. To see our list of databases that Temple Libraries subscribes to see All Databases A-Z

All alumni may use Library Search to locate books, journals and other content available through Temple University Libraries

Using a computer

Temple alumni may apply for a Temple University network access account that allows them to log on to computers at Paley Library. Temple University Libraries does not provide these accounts. Apply for an account through the Temple Office of Alumni Relations.

Inter Library Loan

Owing to heavy demand for interlibrary loan services from current students and faculty, we are unable to extend access to ILLiad and E-ZBorrow to our alumni. We recommend that those in need of interlibrary loan services seek them out at any local community library. All public libraries have the capacity to receive materials from other libraries via interlibrary loan.

Consulting with Temple University Librarians

We encourage our alumni to take advantage of our reference librarian's expertise. Use our Ask A Librarian service for assistance. See List of Subject Specialists. to contact a reference librarian.

Accessing the Temple University Archives

The Conwell-Templana collection (University Archives) is a collecting area in the Special Collections Research Center that documents the history of the University, and its holdings may be of interest to alumni. University and professional school yearbooks are available in our digital collections and more and more Temple University photographs are being digitized as well. The collection also holds catalogs, student magazines and newspapers, university publications, and some administrative records. The published books and sermons, manuscripts, correspondence and memorabilia of founder Dr. Russell Conwell are included in the collection. For more information on accessing these collections call 215-204-8257 or contact us online.

Another collecting area in Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) is the Urban Archives which was established in 1967 to document the social, economic, and physical development of the Philadelphia area from the mid-19th century to the present. The Archives is the repository for organizational records and related materials and a research facility for those interested in urban studies. The Archives’ collections are particularly strong in topics involving social service organizations, unions, housing development, community organizations, and contain many records from organizations involved with African Americans, education, and crime. For more information or to access these collections: call 215-204-8257 or contact us online.
