Makerspace Technology

The Scholars Studio Makerspace offers space, equipment and support for collaborative and critical making for academic and personal projects. 

Open to all current Temple University affiliates, we encourage learning and experimentation through hands-on making and tinkering. 

The Makerspace offers the following equipment for in-house use:

  • FDM 3D Printing: Prusa; Filaments : PLA (silk or matte) in a variety of colors
  • Laser Cutting:  VLS 3.60  (24 x 12”) and Laser Cutter: VLS 6.60 (32 x 18”)                       
  • Electronics: Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Raspberry Pi and Arduino, assorted shields and electronic components, including breadboards, wire, LED lights, motors, kits, and more  
  • Soldering: soldering stations are equipped with helping hands, copper braids, solder, wire cutters, wire strippers, lights, flux, solder suckers, and magnifying glasses.
  • Power tools: Drill, clamps, glue gun, box-cutters, dremel, heat gun, hand sanders. 
  • Crafting and Drafting: scissors, architecture rulers, drafting rulers, compass, tape measure, assorted markers and pens, paper cutter
  • SLA 3D Printing: Form3; Resins include: Gray, Clear, Black, and White. (Color resin may be possible upon request.)
  • Sewing and Textiles: BERNINA 1008 sewing machine, assorted thread, conductive thread for e-textiles, fabric scissors, scrap fabric, hand sewing kit.  
    • Please note: the serger is currently under maintenance. [1/30/2024]
  • 3D Scanning: EinScan Pro 2X Plus 
  • SLS 3D Printing: Fuse1. Available Filament: Nylon 12 (gray)

No experience is necessary, though equipment training must be completed before using the 3D printers, laser cutters, Rasberry Pi and Arduino equipment without staff assistance. Staff assistance is available for most equipment.

For Laser Cutters and CNC Milling Machine, materials are to be provided by the user.

Check with Makerspace staff regarding eligible material.

Small material/equipment fees apply for 3D printing and laser cutting.
