VR/Visualization Studio

This sound dampened room is designed for up to 10 people to simultaneously participate in immersive experiences with virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. 

The studio has:
  • Omni-directional Treadmill
  • Leap Motion Development Kit
  • Oculus Rift S
  • Oculus Go
  • Oculus Quest
  • Meta Quest 2
  • Valve Index
  • Vive Cosmos

The VR/Visualization Studio is open to students, faculty, and staff of Temple University, Monday -  Friday until 5:00pm with bookings starting at 9:00am, priority is given to faculty for class assignments and research. Walk-ins accepted.

Staff will monitor the space from the service desk through a large window.

All VR equipment must stay inside the space unless otherwise noted. 

Checking Out Equipment

Patrons can check out additional headsets to be used in the Scholars Studio VR/Visualization Studio.

Patrons using headsets for development purposes can use them in the general area, after checking them out, upon making a special request by contacting digitalscholarship@temple.edu.

Users may bring their own computers and phones, but are responsible for connecting their own hardware with the VR rigs. 

Safety

No food or drinks will be allowed in the space.

No other belongings are allowed within the VR/Visualization Studio as they are a tripping hazard. There are lockers in the Scholars Studio that you may use to store your belongings, please see the Scholars Studio service desk to check out a key. 

Please be spatially aware and cautious while wearing VR/AR headsets and using the VR/Visualization Studio.  Artificial boundaries may be marked on the floor of the space. Scholars Studio staff will assist you in learning to use the space and being mindful of boundaries.
