When will the Health Sciences Libraries reopen?
We are currently planning to reopen Ginsburg Library on Monday, August 3 and initial hours will be Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–7 pm.
The Krausz Podiatry Library will reopen Monday, August 17th and initial hours will be 9 am–5 pm Monday–Friday.
When you reopen, what measures will be in place to ensure everyone’s health and safety?
We will follow the university guidelines on health and safety, available on Temple University’s Coronavirus: Planning a Safe Return site. This includes rearranging spaces to encourage social distancing and requiring face coverings inside our buildings. We are developing procedures for the handling of physical materials, which will be announced and put into place before we reopen our physical lending collection.
Can I still make an appointment with a librarian for research help?
Yes! Librarian appointments will be held as online meetings via Zoom. Go to our online appointment scheduler to pick a date and time that works for you.
Are you still holding events?
Special events are suspended until further notice.
Are you offering online educational workshops?
Yes! We’ve moved workshops online and even added new ones! Visit our workshop schedule to learn about our offerings and to register for a workshop.
Is the Interlibrary Loan service still available?
We can get articles from other libraries' online collections through ILLiad, but physical book borrowing and lending are suspended.
Can I still borrow print books?
No, but we encourage you to make use of the library’s online resources including ebooks. During the COVID-19 outbreak, many library resource vendors have extended complimentary access to additional online medical resources. These can be filtered by discipline using the first drop down menu.
In addition, you can get help finding a digital copy of any physical book through the aptly titled ‘Get help finding a digital copy’ fulfillment button found when you run a search in Library Search.
What about the due date of the books I borrowed?
We have extended due dates for all patrons until at least September 1st, 2020. In the case of E-ZBorrow and ILLiad books, your due dates may not change in the system but we do not expect you to return them until we've resumed normal operations.
How can I schedule an instruction session with a librarian for my class or residency program?
Our librarians will continue to deliver synchronous or asynchronous library instruction. Live sessions will be held via Zoom. Request instruction by reaching out to your subject librarian or by contacting Jenny Pierce, firstname.lastname@example.org, Head of Research, Education and Outreach Services.
What other support is available to faculty?
Staff at the Health Sciences Libraries can create educational videos for faculty to use asynchronously in their courses. Customized tutorials can be designed to help with research and to meet course specific objectives. Examples are available here. Please consult the libraries’ Remote Faculty Support page for a range of additional general information on how the libraries are supporting faculty during this time.
